Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Ernest Hemingway, Marilyn Monroe,
George Patton and Eleanor Roosevelt. These are just some of the
historical figures to appear on the cover of Time Magazine in the past. And now we can add Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel to that list.
That's right, think about everything that's going on in the United
States and the world right now, and Johnny Manziel is on the cover of
time because of a story on paying college athletes.
Now, I think
paying college athletes is certainly something that should be discussed
on a national level, but at the same time, I hardly think it's the most
important news story in the country at the moment. Then again, you have
to do what you have to do to get people to buy your magazine, and in the
United States putting Manziel on the cover will do a better job of that
than photos of what's been happening in Syria, that's for sure.
And I'm sure it'll make somebody on television mad. - By Tom Fornelli
